CAD designer to outdoorsman

Recently a guy that I worked with quit and will be perusing an outdoors man lifestyle. I have known him for 2 years, but he put 5 years in at the company as a CAD designer.  He was telling me one day that he read the book The 4 Hour Work Week and that is when he decided to make a change.

His plan was to work for 5 years and save as much money as he could while also learning and practicing survival and camping skills.  After 5 years he did quit.  In the last 2 years that I knew him we talked about a lot of things.  He had been scouting areas that he wanted to test his skills in, places like camp grounds and state parks with lakes that were able to be fished.  He also was learning plants in the areas he planned to be in for what is edible and what is dangerous.   He even when as far as learning what bugs are edible for survival, that is a little to far for me.  Through the warm months he plans on living primarily in the outdoors.

He has made some videos for Youtube as practice, but has not made any survival videos at this time.  His goal is to make a weekly video with his experiences and post them. When he post new videos I will update it on this site to be sure all the followers of this site know about it.

I wish him the best of luck in his adventure.
